Okay, so I have this English research assignment which involves me dissecting 4 different texts(ish, movies count also) based on the same theme. The theme I am using is 'the portrayal of the ideal woman'.

The thing is, I don't read 'literature'. I enjoy my chick lit and my fanfic, and most of all, my epic fantasy novels. None of which are suitable for tearing apart in an English assignment. So, if you guys could offer me some suggestions of novels and/or non-Shakespearean plays and/or poetry that prominently feature an 'ideal' woman, that would be amaaaaaaaaaaaaaazing.

Whoa, so it's been a while since a proper update XD

Well, first things first, I got the job! \o/ I've been doing it for the past two or three weeks now, and I'm really enjoying it. And MONEY! I actually have some, oh my god, what is up with that?

What is less awesome is that I work the 6-10am shift and Sundays. Oooooooooooouch is about all I have to say about that -_- Especially considering that last night? Was my ball. I managed to get Saturday off, but not Sunday, so I collapsed into bed at around 1, and had to wake up at 5 and drag myself into work. That was an unpleasant experience.

BUT! THE BALL! I will post an actual recap at a later date, with picspam. Until then, I direct you over to aerithllora's (aka Caitlin) post over here. Suffice to say, it was totally awesome.

In other news, Star Trek. Wtf, self, why so obsessed? I never had any interest in it until I saw the movie and then BAM. Suddenly I'm trawling comms, watching TOS and writing fic. Which I shall upload momentarily. AND NOT EVEN PAIRING FIC. WHAT IS THE WORLD COMING TO?

Jeez, I haven't posted in aaaaaaaaaaages (other than fic). What happened to the days where I looked for an excuse to post, huh? (Ahah, you're probably thankful that they're long gone)

So, somehow, after months and months and months of trying, I managed to get myself not one but TWO job offers. Inorite, how the hell? After actually getting one of the job, I ended up turning it down because. Well, it was a seriously crap job, I woulld have spent the first month paying off what I spent to get it. So I am currently waiting to see if the vastly superior data entry job at my mum's work gets signed off. $14.50 NZD an hour (minimum wage is $12.50) and 12 hours a week. If I get this job, it will be so unspeakably awesome I will be. Unable to speak. Basically, I'm already gauranteed the position, they just need to make sure the position is available. Fuck you, recession.

After months and months and months, I am getting back into the swing of fic writing. And I'm so glad! I forgot how awesome writing in fandom was - it's especially nice to catch up with people I haven't spoken to in months through fic. Also, ten more reviews until The Stage hits 500! I swear, the populatiry of that fic still makes me fall over sometimes. I mean. Rangiku/Byakuya, total crack, what?

I'm currently working on the latest chapter of Ozymandias. There's not much crackier than having Jiraiya and Shunsui talking about sake and beautiful ladies together. Except perhaps for Rangiku/Byakuya XD

That face. Dear god, that face. The 'XD' one? I CAN'T STOP USING IT! I go through these like, cycles, where I will abuse one particular thing to death. 'XD' ':D' '~'. I suppose I should be glad it's no longer 'lol'. I read through my old posts and cringe, sometimes.

Dear god. Dance. I am so terrified. I also have two other internals due, but those are easily ignored in the face of NINE GODDAMN CREDITS, WTFWTFWTF. THEY SHOULD NOT MAKE ASSIGNMENTS WORTH SO MUCH, ESPECIALLY NOT ASSIGNMENTS THAT REQUIRE ME TO CREATE A FREAKING THREE MINUTE DANCE.

Oh man. One of my dancers. She is a nice girl, but she doesn't appear to realise that THIS IS MY MARK HERE, AND IF SHE DOES NOT DO THIS DANCE RIGHT, I WILL FAIL. Or get marked down, at least. There is a three hours workshop tomorrow, if she doesn't pull her head in during then, I am going to have to pull it in for her. And I fucking will, too, because. Nine credits.

In other news, I am nearly done with my holiday homework. On the last day of the holidays. It's so weird, I may actually be done with this before midnight tonight! Yay me!

I think I made a mental breakthrough with my dance. Problem with the music were stressing me out hardcore, but I'm pretty sure I've sorted those out now. I've been choreographing in my head like mad before I go to sleep, so when I finish up with my social studies assignment today, I've got a lot to work from and pull together and toss aside. It's been erally difficult choreographing over the holidays without being in my dance class for inspiration, though. I still think that the solo and third section are going to have to make it for me.

In other news, I got made a mod of squarewarts. I am totally nervous completely terrified that I'm going to mess up  really excited about this, and seriously freaking out about looking forward to it.

In other news, IchiHime. I ship it. When did that happen, self? Especially when I still ship IchiRuki. But I think that a lot of the close comradeships that can easily be twisted romantically (IchiRuki, SasuNaru etc), I still ship them, but I am also starting appreciate just that deep friendship, on its own, without romantic entanglements. Which leaves room for ships such as IchiHime and SasuSaku etc. to creep in when I'm not looking.

Ugh. I have been watching the Invisible Children documentary, and just. I actually start sobbing. I'm sort of glad I was away when we were watching it in class, because I don't think I would have been able to stop myself from bursting into tears.

It's odd. Two years ago I wrote a short story about these children, inspired by something I watched in an assembly at school, but I couldn't remember much about it. I fudged most of the details, as I recall.

It's just. Children, younger than I am,walking miles from their villages to the cities just so they can have a safe place to sleep at night without being abducted and forced into the army. Every day. It boggles the mind.

I'm not being very eloquent about this, and I know there are horror stories the world over but this is something that has been brought to my attention, and the very least I can do is bring it to other people's attention. Despite the fact that she irritated the hell out of me in the beginning of the series, Sakura (from Naruto!) is quite possibly one of my favourite characters ever. And I've waxedeloquent on the reasons in at least two reasons, so I won't bore you here :P Also, I RP her at squarewarts as battle_in_bloom (YOU KNOW YOU WANT TO JOIN!)

2) Naruto (series)
My feelings on the Naruto series are tangled and conflicted. I...love the characters, hate how they're being written. it's sort of weird how Kishimoto has created these amazing characters with all this potential for so many things, and yet...I don't want to say abuses them, because they're his characters, but still. They aren't being used to their full potential, I think.

Ahahah! This, I think, comes from the squarewarts chat in which I am Feikitty. Somehow I became Feikitty, and then insisting on giving everyone else animals...so there is a Tigver and a KitKat and a Mousetal and mooooooooooar~

4) squarewarts 
First ever RP, and it's been so wonderful that I don't think I can go on to another :P Seriously though, everyone is so friendly, and it's so easy to understand. I look around at other RP's when I think I might like to try something else, and just sort of boggle a bit.

5) New Zealand
My country! Boring as fuck, you wouldn't believe. Yes, Lord Of The Rings was made here :P We also have a tendency to tell bigger, older and uglier countries than ours to fuck off. Okay, perhaps with a tad more diplomacy. Every Australian is a liar and a cheat, unless they're on the same side as us, in which case they are our best friend. We were the first country in the world to give women the right to vote. Bitch yeah feminism. The rest of the world forgets about us until we do something awesome again, and then they do a double take. It's sort of hella awesome. Rugby is huge, I verge on sacriligious because I just find grown men jumping on each other in a non-gay way vaguely amusing. Also, netball is big too. I don't know the rules of either game. Someone stop me talking about my country now, please, or else I'll just keep thinking of things to say.

1. Kairi/Larxene
I am the Pope of the Church of KaiLarx, here to convert the world via AWESOME! rebbe designed my hat. Alas, it is in a friendslocked entry, but it is still hella awesome and boggles the mind.

I actually stumbled across this pairing in the oddest way. I was reading a fic on FFN by...Falaphesian, I think (even if it's not, you should read her fics. They're so...I don't even have a word for them. They're almost terrifying in the way they make you feel). It wasn't actually KaiLarx, but rather Larxene/Namine and Kairi/Yuffie. Kairi and Larxene ended up living together, and the dynamic just hit me over the head. I like it more than Larxene/Namine, because Kairi actually has some spine (not that I don't love Namine, but she's not the most forceful girl around), and Larxene loves that :P

BY THE WAY, IF ANYONE WANTS TO PLAY KAIRI AT squarewarts , EVEN IF IT'S NOT FOR KAILARX PURPOSES, I WOULD LOVE YOU FOREVER! Sora wants his gal pal back TT_TT

2. roadkill
Ahahah. Okay, so I haven't written a roadkill journal in over a year, but that's just because there has been nothing truly spectacular on the roads of New Zealand.

Basically, around the time of Christmas is when I do most of my travelling - up to Whangarei, further north to Cable Bay sometimes, and when I wrote the roadkill journals, I was also still talking to Trevor, so i wandered around the North Island with him a bit. And when you're travelling on the roads, you tend to see dead animals. I just happened to document a few of the more interesting ones in a(n attempted) humorous manner. There's a tag for it if you're interested :P

4. extreme like spleens exploding
Ahahah! This came about via a truly epic conversation with rebbe (under the tag 'epic conversation is epic'. Most of the entries there have rebbe and I flailing at each other). I think it was the one that derailed into our epic tragic romance, which ended in her posting a blinking, sparkling entry in her LJ in the biggest font she could manage. I could be wrong though, we flail at each other a lot. Nonethless, rebbe said at one point that she thought her spleen had exploded, she was laughing so hard. I am unsure of where the spleen is, or how hard one has to laugh to explode it, but it seemed suitably awesome. Also, rebbe has a catchphrase 'extreme like dinosaurs exploding'. I stole it and smushed it together, and came up with 'extreme like spleens exploding'! :D

5. ilu4-eva
Another thing that came about via conversation with rebbe. She says 'ilu'. I say 'ilu2'. She says 'ilu3', and I counter with the unbbeatable 'ilu4-eva'. It happens in at least half of our conversations, but alas, she was usually the one who said it first, which meant that I always got to say 'ilu4-eva' and she didn't, so I have to say 'ilu' first more often to rebbe before she sneaks in there and does it first :P
